Phu Quoc island is a part of Kien Giang province, which considers the largest island of Vietnam, at about 574 square kilometres. All you have to do is check the current airlines (Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Jetstar Pacific and Bamboo Airways for further information), or contact with a reliable travel agency to aligns your ticket.

Another point is, visitors from Ho Chi Minh city can choose other options for example sleeper bus, private car to get to Kien Giang province, then catch a ferry (Ha Tien Province) or speedboat (Kien Giang) as a means of transport on sea. Usually, it takes about 6,5 hours travel by bus or car to Kien Giang and 7,5 hours to Ha Tien approximately. The bus fares costs around 150K – 230K vnd depending on the operators.

When visitors arrive in Rach Gia, take a speedboat to get to the island. The boat departs daily at 8:00, 8:45 and 13:00, which a ticket costs 230K – 250K and takes about an hour. On the other hand, if visitors are a person can get seasick with a speedboat, consider a ferry from Ha Tien at Thanh Thoi wharf to Da Chong Port (Bai Thom, Phu Quoc). Furthermore, the ship takes almost 3 hours to the island and costs 185K.

Last but not least, great news for everyone who loves want to have a road trip, that visitors can ride a motorbike from Ho Chi Minh City to Rach Gia, and transfer to Phu Quoc by speedboat. The 300km route can separate into the two-day trip, which the first day you can stop in Can Tho city for a night, then wake up to experience floating market before taking over the journey to Rach Gia province.

  • If you plan to visit during the peak season, consider booking accommodation a month in advance due to the high demand.
